Emma has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from Notre Dame University. Before becoming an independent barrister, Emma worked at the State Solicitor’s Office, MinterEllison and HopgoodGanim (formerly Q Legal).

 

Emma has worked for a range of clients including government entities, banks, major and mid-tier companies and private individuals. Her work has spanned most major sectors including government, banking, agriculture, health, education, property, construction and mining.

 

Emma has appeared as both counsel and instructing solicitor in various courts and tribunals, including the High Court of Australia as junior counsel to the Solicitor General, Western Australian Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, Federal Court, District Court of Western Australia, Magistrate’s Court, Coroner’s Court and State Administrative Tribunal. She also has experience in advising, both in the form of detailed written advice and as an experienced presenter.

 

Emma has been an active participant in the legal profession including as a member of council for the Law Society of Western Australia for 3 years, convenor of the Young Lawyers Committee for 2 years and as treasurer of Women Lawyers WA for 2 years. Emma was named 2014 Women Lawyers of WA, Junior Woman Lawyer of the year and 2017 Piddington Society Junior Practitioner of the Year.

Emma is an active volunteer in her community including with her hometown Quindanning Picnic Race Club and for 10 joyous years with Leading Youth Forward, a mentoring program for at risk teens.
